The frame is ornately engraved front and back and adorned to the front with 18 glowing closed backed, genuine garnet stones, 10 Persian turquoise cabochons and 2 natural baroque pearls. The frame may have had a gold wash, which would have been typical, but it is hard to tell due to the rich patina of the old silver. In excellent condition, there is no bezel or glass for the frame. #MM127 – Who the Devil? Amethyst Intaglio Seal

This is such a cool intaglio seal – a rich purple foiled stone (unsure if genuine amethyst or crystal) it states “Who the devil is this from?” with a detailed figure of a devil with a pitchfork. The intaglio is encased in an ornate goldwork mount that is absolutely beautiful and it is finished with a mother of pearl handle. It measures 2.5 inches in length, intaglio measures 5/8 by 4/8 inch. While the gold looks like a high karat, it is in reality heavy gold fill with a high karat finish. A fun little Victorian bit of whimsy – perfectly usable too!

#VFP - NB1618 Victorian 18K Enamel Violets Pin

Another fine example of antique enamel, this one c. 1900 and depicting entwined double violet blooms, each set with a good, clean .10 point diamond in the center. #MM140 - Victorian Tortoise Pique Earrings

A good pair of Victorian earrings, done in tortoise and inlaid with gold dots and stars in a technique known as “pique” – the tortoise was actually heated to allow gold or silver accents to be applied, then as it cooled, it shrunk, keeping the designs in place. These are a good example and very cool looking on. Start at the top with gold wires which hold a tortoise ball decorated with dots of gold. From these dangle ovals with gold stars, from these dangle triangles, decorated with more gold balls and finished at each end with a gold bobble. For pierced ears, they measure 1+1/2” from the top of the wire. In overall very good, original condition, with the only fault a single miniscule flake tone corner of one of the triangles. Of little consequence, but noted for accuracy. A beautiful pair of antique earrings! Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#BN33 - Unusual Victorian Multi Intaglio Seals Fob

Well, isn’t this cool? A total of eight different intaglio seals, six set as spokes of a “wheel” and two center ones and set into bronze dore. The ones on the spokes are plain brass, the center ones are green and white onyx – the green depicts a flower, the white, cupid with an arrow. The rest of the seals show – 1. two joined hearts – reads “forever”; 2. a horn of plenty – reads “God gives us”; 3. a ship – reads “Such is life”; 4. a flower – reads “forget-me-not”; 5. Clasped hands – reads “Friendship”; and finally 6. a clover, I guess for luck. A great selection of Victorian sentiments, all in one piece to use as the mood strikes! The whole thing measures 1” across and each of the seals are 11 mm wide. Everything is in excellent condition, though it does need a new chain. Very unusual find for the seal collector! Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#BN56 – Early Halley’s Comet Pin

This is an early example of a Halley’s comet pin, from the 1835 appearance. The sighting of the comet spawned a new style of jewelry – though varying in look, from very simple to quite ornate, they all had a head and a tail to resemble the comet. This example measures 1 5/8” long and is decorated with repousse and engraving along the tail, with a faceted white topaz or rock crystal mounted closed back as the head. It is gold, at least 10K and topped with silver as was common for the era. In very good condition, with no wear to note, “c” clasp and long, extended pinstem. Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#MM128 – Amazing 18K French Napoleon Bonaparte Earrings

Well, I try hard not to overuse the word rare, but I certainly have never seen anything like these earrings before. Late 19th century, they are French, crafted from tested 18K gold and depict a full figured image of Napoleon Bonaparte in an ornate arch shape decorated with flowers and scrolls. A quite showy pair at 2 3/16” from the top of the shepherd hook wire, they are for pierced ears and have later, 9K fleur de lis tops (appropriate!). They are interestingly constructed of two identical pieces joined together, so both the fronts and the backs have the same image. Lightweight at 5.7 grams, there is a tiny French hallmark of an owl to the top of each, dating these to post-1893. In very good condition, especially considering their age, but one of the fleur de lis tops has lost its bottom left hand tiny 'curl' and has a tiny split to the gold. No other faults to note. Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#2722 – Good Long Victorian Dangle Earrings

Another pair of good, gold filled Victorian earrings, these quite showy at 2 9/16” long x 5/8” wide. Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.
