#VFP-BN213 18K Enamel Haley’s Comet Pin

A rather good 18K Haley’s comet pin, a step above most due to the black enamel decoration on the tail and the original attached safety stick pin with foxtail chain. A 5.8 mm, old cut white stone is claw set and mounted in a prettily engraved double buttercup mounting as the head of the comet. The pin measures 1 1/16” long x 3/8” across the head. In very good condition, with the only fault a tiny chip in the stone under one prong (only viewed with a loupe), it is unmarked, but tested as 18K. Every time I try to date one of these one of the comet collectors tells me I am wrong (sometimes even on the same pin), so it is either commemorating either the 1835 or the 1910 appearance : ) Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.
