#ODX-MM199 Silver Box With Cool Crocodile Scale Motif

This great round box has a gilt washed interior, hinged top with a beautifully engraved monogram in the center and an allover irregular pattern that look like scales of a crocodile – very striking! The inside rim edges are hallmarked for 800 silver and further hallmarked for a maker maybe “M” over something in a mountain shaped cartouche and then in another location another mark that looks like an “A” – honestly they are just too small to make out for certain. The box measures 1 5/8” diameter tapering to a 1 3/16” bottom. It is 1” high and weighs 14.3 dwt (22.2 grams) – nice size for display, but also good to use as a pillbox or for other treasures and toss in your purse. In excellent, all original condition with a great patina we have left alone. Circa 1920.
