#VCP - NB45 Very Fine Vulcanite Cherub Brooch
Well, I guess this update is going to have an angel or cherub theme as there a couple of them! This is a gorgeous rendition of a carved cherub in full flight, carrying a garland of flowers. It measures 2 Ό x 1 ½ and is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks to the carving, a bit of crazing to the back (typical of vulcanite) the only item to note, not really a flaw. The carving has retained its rich black color not faded to brown. It has a c clasp, the pinstem has been replaced with a gold or gold fill one, the rest of the set in clasp is brass. Pretty early, c. 1870 or so and such a nice size - a must have addition to any cherub or Victoriana collection!

It hangs from an equally ornate 18 fancy link chain and is in overall very good condition. #VCL - MM154 Victorian Scottish Cupid Locket
Another cherub! This one is definitely cupid, note the bow and arrow at the ready on the front, on the back is a cool Scottish hat, heather and sword motif! Both of the carvings are very finely detailed. The locket has an unusual mix of materials the frame is painted black metal (appears to be brass), the carvings I THINK are either jet or gutta percha which is backed inside with a piece of painted wood. The inside compartment also has the original hinged glass for a portrait or other memento. The locket measures 2 1/8 to the top of the bale x 1 1/8 wide. Aside from some wear to the black paint of the brass frame (easily touched up if you choose) it is in excellent condition, with no wear to the carving or other faults to note. Darling AND quite romantic!

#3085 Romantic Carved Antler Brooch Lovebirds!
A pair of birds lovebirds I think, or maybe a variation on the Doves of Pliny, are intricately carved from a cross section of antler. They are shown drinking from a bird bath and are surrounded by all sorts of lacy foliage, really beautifully done. It measures 1 13/16 x 1 3/8, the front has been stained a rich brown which was typical for the time to bring out the details, but the back was left natural. In excellent condition, with no damage to the carving or other faults, what would have been a c clasp has been replace with a good safety. #VCB-MM179 Victorian Ivory Articulated Snake Bracelet
A charming Victorian carved sectional ivory snake bracelet strung on elastic and beautifully modeled in three dimensions as a snake. Expandable to fit just about any size wrist, the head is 12mm wide. It is in overall good condition, though does have a couple of faults, most notably a missing eye (easily replaced) and I think it may have had once had a tongue. Otherwise, a nick or two to the ivory, including a small chip to the lower mouth. All acceptable given the age, not noticeable when worn, but mentioned for accuracy. Needs a bath, but the patina of the ivory is wonderful, I did not want to disturb it so will let the new owner clean to taste, if at all. Quite an attractive and VERY collectible Victorian bracelet! c. 1880, certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#VCN-MM191 Jeweled Victorian Saphiret Glass Fob Festoon Necklace
An unusual Victorian saphiret stone, measuring ½ around and inlaid with multi-colored rhinestones, is the centerpiece of this festoon necklace. Originally a double sided fob (the other side is a polished black onyx square), at some point it was transformed into a swag necklace using antique chain and it looks wonderful when worn, thankfully, it was done so nothing on the original fob was changed or damaged. Everything is gold plate or fill, there is wear to the gold on the fob and some minor wear to the onyx stone, but the saphiret, which is really the star of the show is in very good condition.
Saphiret glass was made with real gold which created the color changing properties of the glass from pink to blue to aqua to brown as well as giving it it's opalescent quality. Because of the gold and skill involved in it's manufacture, it is one of the most difficult of old Czech glass to find, making it highly desirable to collectors. Saphiret inlaid with rhinestones such as this are doubly rare, making this quite a find! The necklace measures 18 long and hand down 1 Ό. Aside from the aforementioned wear, it is in otherwise very good condition and ready to wear (though I would polish the gold up a bit) or to add to your saphiret collection! Fob is c. 1900 or so, conversion was done later. Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry!

#VCP-MM200 Three Sentimental Heart Shaped Photo Pins
A set of three charming Victorian photo pins depicting a family in their Sunday finest. They each measure 15/16 heart shape with center ½ round photos that appear to be transferred on to a metal back. A bit of scroll work and a single bobble decorates each. Would love to know the story of these three - Dad has a great period mustache, Moms smile is a little forced, I think and the daughter! I cant decide if she is sick (look at those shadows under her eyes) or just really, really unhappy because of the big floppy bows in her banana curls! On the back there is a stamped GD which could stand for gold however they do not hold up to 10K acid, so buy them as gold fill. Nice rich, rosey color, each is fitted with their original t-bar hinge, extended pinstem and c clasp. In overall excellent condition, with some light scratches most notably to Dad and greatly magnified in our photos, not really noticeable in person. These were purchased together and appear to have remained together since they were taken instant ancestors! Circa 1900, certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.
