#B9086 - Victorian Sterling Paste Moon Pin
A very fine early Victorian paste pin, done in sterling in the form of a crescent moon. It measures 1 ½” x 1 ½” and is in close to pristine condition, with no damage, repairs or wear that I can find to note. The pastes (which may actually be faceted rock crystal) are bead and bezel mounted and are beautifully matched. It has a good, all original “c” clasp, t-back hinge and extended pinstem. Unmarked, but tested and guaranteed sterling. An excellent addition to any Georgian or Victorian paste collection.

#VSE-MM158 - Victorian Seed Pearl Enamel Mourning Day/Night Earrings
Gorgeous 2” Victorian day/night earrings, so called because the drops can be removed so they are just simple button earrings during the day and added back for more of a dramatic look at night. Certainly mourning earrings given the color, the seed pearls, which often represented tears and the wheat motif which is Victorian symbolism for God harvesting a soul. They are crafted from sterling with rich black enamel and measure 2” from the top of the wire x ½” at the widest and weigh a total of 7.0 dwt (10.8 grams). They have a number of tiny maker’s marks and we suspect they are French in origin. Both are in excellent condition, all seed pearls are intact, there is absolutely no wear to the enamel or other faults to note, aside from the silver on the back needing a bit of polishing – a fine example of authentic Victorian earrings, perfectly wearable today, would look awesome accessorizing that little black dress! c. 1900, certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#VSP - NB37 Victorian Mixed Metals MIZPAH Brooch
A good example of a popular sentiment in the Victorian era, this MIZPAH brooch is beautifully crafted as an open book decorated with bobbles and green gold leaves – the left page reads simply MIZPAH in rose gold, the right, the full prayer or sentiment. An extensive history of the term MIZPAH can be found HERE but this is a short excerpt -
“MIZPAH goes back thousands of years, symbolizing a sanctuary and place of hopeful anticipation, a place where seemingly impossible may happen as of divine intervention or an inspiration. MIZPAH is mentioned for the first time in the Bible ( Genesis 31, around 1800 BC) as a powerful watchword, when Jacob and Laban agree at Gilead to a godsent peace. They built a memento of stone and named it like their wise covenant MIZPAH, saying: The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another".
Measuring 1 5/8” by 5/8”, it is fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1897, along with a maker’s mark of “S Bro.” Typical “c” clasp, solder repair to the pinstem (well done and holds well, but easily replaced if you choose), in otherwise excellent condition, with no wear to note.

#2736 – Victorian Garnet Bangle
An elegant Victorian gilt silver bangle, bead set with two rows of 4mm flat top garnets. A good size at a bit over ¼” wide, it has an inside measurement of 2 5/16” and should comfortably fit up to a 6 ¾” to 7” wrist. Hallmarked with the letters “n” and “O” on the tongue of the clasp, along with another hallmark I can’t quite decipher, there are no missing stones. There is some bending to the gold on the inside rim, this is not evident from the front or when worn and there are no other flaws to note. Circa 1900, certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#VSP-NB51 One of a Kind Renaissance Silver Mother Child Pin
What an amazing thing this is! A long, gilt (possibly mercury gilding) silver spoon, hand made and hand engraved in the Renaissance style is fitted with detailed, full form miniature silver washed bronze busts of a mother and child and finished with a pin back. Certainly a one of a kind piece, perhaps a gift for a new mother from a beloved husband. The true history is lost, but the sentiment is still evident after well over 100 years. The workmanship is very fine – our pictures could not capture the detail andbeauty of this piece, it is truly a little work of art. It measures 3 ¾” x 1 ¼” and is in excellent condition, with no wear to note. Mother’s Day is coming up, what a unique and treasured gift this would make!

#575 – Early Paste Hair Pendant
A late Georgian or early Victorian sentimental, probably mourning pendant, done in unmarked but tested silver. It features blonde curls mounted on a mother of pearl background and arranged in a Prince of Wales design. The curls are under a domed beveled crystal and are secured with gold thread and seed pearls. The ornate, ribbon topped frame is completely decorated with old, rose cut paste stones – 54 in all and ranging in size from 2 mm up to the largest 6.5 mm one in the bow at the top. The pendant measures 2 ¼” high x 1 3/8” wide and is backed with a glued, black grosgrain ribbon. We have not attempted to remove this, so have no idea what, if anything, is back there, at one time it probably held a portrait of the owner of the hair. In otherwise good condition with a bit of typical displacement to the gold thread and hair. C. 1800, certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.

#VSB-MM163 - Victorian Love Token Bracelet w/ Enamel Clasp
A cool silver coin love token bracelet with three engraved love tokens, a cut out coin and a fabulous enamel clasp. The largest, center coin is the oldest from 1820, one coin is cut out and the others are from Austria, 1858. In addition, there are 3 love tokens with flowing ornate initials and the cut out coin has initials on the front as well. All are old and original coins.
The history of love tokens pre-dates the Victorians – I found a great metal detecting site HERE that talks about love tokens dating to medieval times. The coins are joined by silver chains and finished with a silver and blue guilloche enamel clasp (the clasp is later than the coins, probably Edwardian). The bracelet is in excellent condition with the original patina. It measures 1” at it’s widest by just shy of 8” long and weighs 18.8 dwt (29 grams). Certified to be as described and to be authentic antique jewelry.
