#RCS-MM161 Reja Sterling Lizard Pin and Earring Set
Founded in 1939 by Solomon Finkelstein as Deja Costume Jewelry, Inc., the name was changed to Reja in January, 1941 because of a trade name similarity with the Du Jay company. They decided on Reja, because it was easy to change the letter “D” to an “R”. Reja operated from 1941 through December 1953, when the company declared bankruptcy.
Reja jewelry is quite collectible. It is of extremely high quality and includes wonderful figurals in sterling, some with enamel and many with colorful rhinestones, moonstones and pave clears. This is a great example– a gilt washed sterling lizard pin and matching screwback earrings. Set with red and white rhinestones on the backs, along with green rhinestones eyes. The pin measures a nice 2 7/8” x 1”, the earrings are 1 ¼” x 5/8”. All three pieces are in as found, original condition, with some light wear to the gilt and a missing eye in one of the earrings. Aside from that, there is no wear to note, the stones are sparkly and the findings are all in good condition. Marked sterling along with a faded Reja on the back of the pin. C. 1940’s, certified to be as described and authentic antique jewelry.

#KSP-MM178 South American Silver Yerba Mate Dagger Pin
If you are like me and love mate (an herbal tea claimed to have multiple medicinal and healthful properties), you will have a hard time resisting this great engraved silver dagger brooch. Dangling from the 2 ½” x 5/16” dagger sheath are three charms – each one of the implements used in brewing mate – a teapot for hot water, the traditional gourd cupdecorated with silver top and bottom and a little mate silver straw, called a bombilla. For a really good explanation of how the implements are used and everything you ever wanted to know about mate, visit the Wikipedia entry
HERE
Back to the pin - marked 800 for silver content, the little dagger does come out of the sheath, and I guess can be used for chopping your mate or poking someone trying to steal yours : ) Overall in very good condition, with the only fault a missing safety chain that would have attached the removed dagger to the pin, easily replaced if you desire. A very unusual brooch, have never seen another like it. Have no real idea of the era, though based on the clasp and the engraving, it appears to have some decent age to it and is certainly not new. Certified to be as described and to be authentic estate jewelry.

#RSE-MM195 Pietra Negra Tono Taxco Mixed Metal Inlaid Earrings
Great design in these long dangling earrings constructed of sandwiched layers of silver, onyx and brass and then inlaid with onyx, silver and turquoise. They are signed “Pietra Negra”, “Tono”, the initials “AC” in a circle marked Hecho en Mexico Sterling Taxco 925 and a design number of T177 long dangle Mexican mixed metals earrings are. The mark is a bit of a puzzle – “Pietra Negra” translates to black stone, I have seen other Tono pieces, all mixed metals, with this mark and a suspect it was the name of the line using the black stone? A bit of research on the internet did little to enlighten me, no matter really, because they are just way cool! They measure 11/16” wide and are a whopping 3” long from the top of the later ear wire They weigh 9.7dwt (15 grams) and are in excellent condition, though really need a polish – had to sit on my hands to avoid doing it, as I prefer to let the new owner polish to taste. Unsure of the exact age, there is little info on the Tono signature, but certified to be as described!
